Fall 2023 Workshops

The fabulous Nature Printing Society workshop comes up starting October 2. I’m the prez this year, and I’ll be teaching the casting of botanical tiles in concrete and plaster. Join us for a week-long immersion in gyotaku, nature printing, ecodyeing…here’s the link: Natureprintingsociety.org

Join me online with the Smithsonian for four classes: The Sketchbook Habit: The Art of Everyday Life, a three-part watercolor workshop, begins October 14.

Gyotaku Hawaiian Style, an advanced one-session fish printing workshop, starts October 28.

White line Woodcut, a one wood block printmaking technique (picture above!) starts November 18. And the advanced workshop, White Line Woodcut II, happens the following Saturday, November 2.

Coming up in the spring: Print using actual fish in the Japanese art of gyotaku and create your own hand-printed fabric using botanical techniques and leaves at the Maryland Natural History Society in Baltimore.

I’ll be at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland in May 2024, teaching folks how to create bas relief botanical tiles using plant material sourced directly from this lovely botanical garden.
