SIERRA CLUB BLOG
Between 2010 and 2012 I wrote and illustrated the weekly Explore: Nature Art blog.
John Muir, restless naturalist and founder of the Sierra Club, is best known today for his writing, especially his early journals published as My First Summer in the Sierra. But he, too, kept sketchbooks, in which grasshoppers jump and lizards track a choppy trail across the sand of California’s central valley.
Like Muir, readers learned to keep nature journals, draw, and become close observers of the natural world.
