Shop | 10x10 Bas Relief Tiles

Sue-FierstonThese tiles are part of a continuing series of botanical bas relief pieces called “What’s in Bloom?”

Sue made these tiles by hand.

First she laid flowers and leaves on a rolled-out slab of clay. She pressed them into the clay using a rolling pin, then she removed them and placed a wooden frame around the image.

Next she poured liquid plaster or cement into the frame and once it was set, she removed the frame and peeled the finished tile from the clay. Since each tile in handmade, the color in each will vary slightly.
